Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I just wanted to take some time to remind us about Psalm 100 during the Thanksgiving holiday. This is one of my favorite Psalms! Check it out: Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Yes we are His people! He’s our Creator and Heavenly Father. Isn’t that something to be thankful about? Isn’t that something to shout with joy about? He is Lord. He is good. His love endures forever and He is faithful throughout generations. Praise the Lord Saints. Whew!
I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t Thanksgiving about the turkey? Isn’t it about family and friends gathering around a table and stuffing themselves with good food? Or how about watching a parade or football game? Or gearing up for black Friday? Does any of that sound familiar? Yeah, me too. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with those things, but as Christians we’ve got to be careful not to let worldly traditions overshadow keeping Jesus first place–even if it’s only for a day.
Remember that Jesus delivered us from the power of darkness. He redeemed us from the curse of the law. He tore the veil so we can come boldly to the throne of grace. Now those are things to be thankful for!
God bless and much love.
